Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), commonly known as "Ecstasy" has both stimulant-like and hallucinogen-like properties. Although those who use it do so to increase energy and improve their mood, this drug also causes dehydration, increased heart rate and body temperature, occasionally to the point of heart and kidney failure. In addition, use of MDMA can lead to memory loss and the breakdown of dopamine neurotransmitters, which can lead to Parkinson's disease.
